He says he's a man of the people (whatever that means) He's gonna take care of the people (whatever that means) He'll work hard for the people (what ever that means) He's gonna listen to the people (whatever that means) He says he sees a brighter future But he didn't say who it would be brighter for He'll make the country more secure And give everybody more of what we're living in America for Whatever that means We've heard it all before He says he's been there and done that (whatever that means) He's a scholar and a diplomat (whatever that means) He had the best education (whatever that means) And now he's got a plan for the nation (whatever that means) He says he sees a brighter future But he didn't say who it would be brighter for He'll make our country more secure And give everybody more of what we're living in America for Whatever that means we've heard it all before Whatever that means haven't we heard it all before But he's got such a nice face And he wears a suit well He was raised in the right faith And sources do tell He's been white all his life and he's faithful to his wife He's been white all his life and he's faithful to his wife Must be a good man He says he's a man of the people (whatever that means) So he'll be fair to the people (whatever that means) He'll be there for the people (what ever that means) Because he cares about the people (whatever that means) He says he sees a brighter future But he didn't say who it would be brighter for He'll make our country more secure And give everybody more of what we're living in America for Whatever that means we've heard it all before Whatever that means haven't we heard it all before He's been white all his life and he's faithful to his pretty little wife His pretty white wife Whatever that means

Waiting for the aliens, hanging out in Roswell I sit outside and stare at the sky And wonder when they're coming Waiting for the aliens, and according to statistics A hundred guys might get a ride Tonight it could be my turn Beam me up, I want to be abducted tonight Beam me up, I'm not afraid to fly that high Beam me up, I want to be abducted tonight And I was wondering before you take me home again Could I fly your ship, I wanna fly your ship Fly your ship, I wanna fly your ship One time around the sun, one time around the moon One time around the Earth, stars, Venus and Mars Baby I'll be home soon Waiting for the aliens, I've seen all the movies I'm so prepared to go up there I know they're gonna choose me Waiting for the aliens, packing my possessions When I get my place in outerspace You can say you knew me Beam me up, I want to be abducted tonight Beam me up, I'm not afraid to fly that high Beam me up, I want to be abducted tonight And I was wondering before you take me home again Could I fly your ship, I wanna fly your ship Fly your ship, I wanna fly your ship One time around the sun, one time around the moon One time around the Earth, stars, Venus and Mars Baby I'll be home soon I bet they'll have alot of questions & maybe some suggestions I bet they're gonna ask me about mans's insanity "You've got a real nice planet here, But you better watch your atmosphere And you better clean your waters up, or have none for your cup" Beam me up

Green Doctor 04:11
I take my traveling practice far and wide Don't need no pills to treat the good folks ills With the laws of nature on my side I grow me own grass like a homeopath And write prescriptions up the ass Chorus: I'm your Green Doctor Not a cannabis Kevorkian of Hippocratic hemp Just your Green Doctor Don't you think I'm Heaven sent? I'm your Green Doctor Smoke two joints and call me in the morning I'm your Green Doctor Licensed by the government I take my little green bag from town to town I won't stab your veins to ease your pain The president wants to shut me down Our leaders are dutiful in supporting pharmaceuticals But you can't OD on what you get from me Chorus (All I wanted was some ganja) But they made you take morphine (All I wanted was some ganja) Then they said try some of this codeine (All I wanted was some ganja) Then they sat you on a couch with an old Life magazine (All I wanted was some ganja) And while you were waiting they gave you caffeine (All I wanted was some ganja) But your pleas they were ignored (All I wanted was some ganja) Now you live at Betty Ford At Betty Ford At Betty Ford All you wanted was your Green Doctor Chorus

Mr. Dinosaur 04:00
I was digging in the desert I was all alone When my shovel shoved in to a dinosaur bone A leg so big I thought it was a log Then I tripped and slipped on a dinosaur jaw I bumped my head and the sky went red And I fell into a dream on a dinosaur bed Wo! And in my dream I was having a talk With a big green dinosaur dancin' on a rock I said excuse me but I came here lookin for your dead bones He said leave my bones alone Mr. Dinosaur, what would you think If you were still living and we were extinct Mr. Dinosaur, could you resist Digging in the dirt for scientists You'd be digging in the dirt Well I wonder if the world would be any less strange If the chain of evolution were rearranged If man was gone, turn the page And today was the day of the dinosaur age If they lived now and we lived then Would they make scary movies about prehistoric men (and the women they loved) Wo! Can't you see a bunch of dinosaurs diggin' in the dirt All decked out wearing stone washed jeans, alligator shirts One T-rex gets excited and he says Hey I found a humanoid head Mr. Dinosaur, what would you think If you were still living and we were extinct Mr. Dinosaur, could you resist Digging in the dirt for scientists You'd be digging in the dirt (for whatever it's worth) They'd display us in museums and they study us in schools And theorize for hours 'bout our customs and our tools In raging debate as to our fate they'd agree To dig us up to see Mr. Dinosaur, what would you think If you were still living and we were extinct Mr. Dinosaur, could you resist Digging in the dirt for scientists You'd be digging in the dirt For whatever it's worth

She Believes 03:28
She believes that she can't talk to me on Tuesdays 'Cause her fortune teller tells her so Not to mention the stars and the tarot cards And the psychic on the radio She believes that I can't take her out on Friday Cause of something in her horoscope She saw it in the tea leaves and it was on the 13th And so she just had to say no I said oh well there'll be another day and she said knock wood I said it's really okay and she said knock wood Then I took her to my place And you should have see the fear on her superstitious face When I said come on in under the ladder in the doorway Thirteen steps will get you straight to the bed Never mind my black cat The one who walked across your path He's just messing with your superstitious head Your super superstitious head She said you're crazy takin' chances like that She said you're crazy don't you know what could happen You're crazy takin' chances like that She said you're crazy crazy She believes I'm unlucky cause I broke a mirror And the curse takes seven years to pass And in my logical mind I'm thinking that's some hard time For breaking a cheap piece of glass She believes in the power of her prayers' protection And she's hoping she can help me too But I'm increasing my odds of pissing off all the gods And then there's not much she can do I smiled and said I'll keep my fingers crossed And she said that's good maybe you're just a little lost And I said knock wood and as I walked her to the door I took the opportunity to freak her out some more So I said watch your step under the ladder in the doorway Thirteen floors down to the lobby I said Never mind that full moon, Never listen to the voice of doom They're just messin' with your superstitous head Your super duperstitous head And she said you're crazy takin' chances like that She said you're crazy don't you know what could happen You're crazy takin' chances like that She said you're crazy crazy

Look now the sun is rising See how haze turns to fire Have you ever seen that color before? Listen can you feel the morning Hopeful and full of surprises Have you ever had that feeling before? So sorry 'bout your business trip to Akron So sorry 'bout your conference call So sorry didn't mean to interrupt you It was nothing at all 'Cause who can see the light Like a little child? To the older it seems less bright And after a while It disappears from sight Did you grow up or did you grow old? Look up there in the night sky Streaking across our path Did you see it? I think it was a shooting star So sorry 'bout the dow and nikei average So sorry that your taxes are tall So sorry didn't mean to interrupt you It was nothing at all Cause who can see the light Like a little child? To the older it seems less bright And after a while It disappears from sight Did you grow up or did you grow old?) You can see the light Like a little child And with practice it glows more bright And after a while You're living in the light Did you grow up or did you grow old?

Pick yourself up and don't look back Pick yourself up by your own bootstraps Pick yourself up, it's there for the trying So live like a lion and don't hold back Pick yourself up and don't look back Pick yourself by your own bootstraps Pick yourself up and start celebrating 'Cause there's glory awaiting when you don't hold back I have sometimes felt the pain of disappointment I have sometimes felt the arrows of regret I have sometimes felt completely overcome with sorrow But today is not tomorrow and I won't look back Pick yourself up and don't look back Pick yourself up by your own bootstraps Pick yourself up, it's there for the trying So live like a lion and don't hold back You say you're down, down We're talking rock hard times And you just can't catch a break You're just about to give up And say you couldn't give a chuck About staying in the race But brother it's time like these you gotta rise up Brother get off your knees you gotta rise up If it seems like I'm talking to you then rise up What else are you gonna do but rise up? You never know what could happen next You might be screwed, you might be blessed But he who rises up has no regrets I have sometimes been coerced by my own hunger I have felt the icy cold upon my neck I have sometimes had to beg and steal and borrow But today is not tomorrow and I won't look back Pick yourself up and don't look back Pick yourself up by your own bootstraps Pick yourself up, it's there for the trying So live like a lion and don't hold back Yes you can live like a lion when you don't hold back

There's a great big house at the end of a street Where everyone dances to a different beat Rhythm and harmony mingle and meet And everyone gets along This is the place where the lines are erased Between contrasting cultures, religion and race Everyone's welcome and we all belong And that's why we all come to the House of Song We come for blues in the basement Reggae on the roof Jazz on the jukebox The rhythms of soul and rock and roll And everybody dances all night long Everybody dances all night long The music is the magic in the House of Song Like harmony and rhythm we get along The music is the magic In the House of Song Wo wo Spinning, turning, living , learning Keeping the beat, keeping the peace Twist and twirl, one house one world Different tunes in different rooms Infinite rhythms, intimate rhymes A hundred heartbeats keeping time I'll dance to yours, you dance to mine Let's open all the doors and erase the lines We come for blues in the basement Reggae on the roof Jazz on the jukebox The rhythms of soul and rock and roll And everybody dances all night long Everybody dances all night long The music is the magic in the House of Song Like harmony and rhythm we get along The music is the magic In the House of Song Wo wo Spinning, turning, living , learning Keeping the beat, keeping the peace Twist and twirl, one house one world Different tunes in different rooms Infinite rhythms, intimate rhymes A hundred heartbeats keeping time I'll dance to yours, you dance to mine Let's open all the doors and erase the lines To the Bossa in the Bedroom Hip-hop on the tabletop Country in the Kitchen Rhumba in the restroom Classics in the closet Polka in the parlor Disco in the den Calypso on the patio Some old Chuck Berry in the library Waltzes in the workshop Rap out back in the garden shack Big band in the ballroom Ragtime in the rec room Opera in the outhouse Grateful Dead on the waterbed And reggae, oh we got reggae Yes we got reggae In the House of Song

Woke up this morning steaming mad Something was wrong Though I couldn't put my finger on it right away But anyway Pieces of my life were decidedly bad So I figured I'd focus on feeling Pissed off at the people I blame So I stomped out slammed the door And found myself out in the street Where everyone was smiling And everyone was sweet And every smile enfuriated me Beyond belief Don't you losers know that we're all gonna die? What's your problem? Why you looking at me like that? What's your problem? Almost got into at work Someone said something that pisses me off Though I can't remember what it was Or why it does But we were separated lucky for that jerk So all of a sudden there's nothing to do And no one to punch So I stormed into the bathroom To slap some water on my face And I looked into the mirror And I saw that in my place Was a snarling cornered animal Both predator and prey And I heard him as he locked on to my eyes What's your problem? Why you looking at me like that? What's your problem? I want to stare into the brighter side And fill my spirit with its light I will be strong yes I will turn the tide I 'm tough enough to look inside What's the problem? What's your problem? Why you looking at me like that? What's your problem? What? Ok I'm gonna get a grip on things From now on I'm gonna give thanks For my life every day And let me say I still see all the things that stink I've just decided to fight it In more productive ways 'Cause now I see the bitter faces Screwed on tight by rage And I understand the feeling well 'Cause once I was the same And I know they see me smiling And they think that I'm insane And I hear the question churning in their minds What's your problem? Why you looking at me like that? What's your problem? What's your problem? What's your really really really big problem? WHAT?

I see restlessness I see peace I see enlightenment and I see insanity I see hunger I see greed What's the difference? What's the breaking point? Where's the fork in the road The toss of the coin that decides it? Think it down Think it down to the ground I see hopelessness. I see dreams I see focus and I see confusion I see stars. I see debris Is it timing? Is it stupid luck? Where's the balance of choices and chance That affect how it all ends up? Think it down Think it down to the ground Never let a problem Get bigger than you In any situation You can find a way to see it through Keep your wits about you And your eyes open wide Remember what's important And rely on what you've got inside I see poverty. I see wealth I see wisdom and I see ignorance I see illness. I see health What's the answer? What would Buddha say? He'd say figure it out for yourself Why you asking me anyway? He'd say figure it out for yourself Figure it out for yourself Is there a formula that we can trust? Or is it totally, blindingly different For every one of us? For every one of us Think it down Think it down to the ground

chorus: Live your life with love and laughter We don't know what's coming after Live your life with love and laughter every day Life is good if you believe it What you see is how you see it Live your life with love and laughter That's the way I met a sad man I say man what can I do To bring your smile back to you He say life is bad, man I say you might find it's true The way you feel is up to you You can worry and be blue Or laugh your cares away But if you cry it won't make the sun shine And if you smile it could change your world And not just the world you live in But my world too For every smile given One returns to you chorus I met a blue girl I say what could be so bad To make someone so young so sad You know it's true girl Things don't always go your way But there is hope in every day Just because the sky is grey Don't mean it's gonna rain But if you cry it won't make the sun shine And if you smile it could change your world And not just the world you live in But my world too And all the joy you've given Will return to you chorus But if you cry it won't make the sun shine And if you smile it could change your world And not just the world you live in But my world too For every smile given One returns to you chorus out

about

"On their sophomore effort, the Toyes make a bid for the title of Best American Reggae Band. Okay, maybe there's not that much competition. But this is a great album by any standard: production quality is up significantly from the debut, and bandleader Mawg is writing songs even tighter and hookier than before. One thing that hasn't changed is his wicked sense of humor and his manifest inability to suffer fools gladly-"Whatever That Means" takes on presidential politics, while "Waiting for the Aliens" is a ridiculously catchy take on alien abduction theories. He gets maybe a bit too self-referential on "The Show Biz Food Chain," which bemoans the band's inability to break into the national spotlight. But at least he does it all with a grin, and his homeopathy anthem ("Green Doctor") is so sweetly funny that it more than makes up for the occasional misstep. The band is tighter than ever, thanks partly to the bass playing of Fully Fullwood and partly to guest drummer Carlton "Santa" Davis, a veteran of the Roots Radics band and Bunny Lee's studio. Highly recommended."
